Heavy Rain Suppression is the colony’s protective airflow behaviour during strong rainfall. Bees reduce or temporarily halt ventilation to prevent cold, wet external air from entering the hive. This behaviour creates a flattened, low‑energy acoustic signature and reflects the colony’s defensive response to severe environmental cooling.
